Changing the way that artists employeed in repertoire theaters is a topic that is increasingly mentioned as a solution for better economical and production business of Serbian theaters. Moving from permanent employment to fixed-term employment carries with it potential risks for the survival of the repertoire theater in the form that we know today. By analyzing the employment models in Serbian theaters from the aspect of human resources management and culture management theory, and by comparing the real situation in theaters with legal regulations that should regulate this situation, we come to the conclusion that our society is not currently ready to change the way of employment, so the solution should be looked for in changes that will have less impact on people employeed in theaters, but will certainly improve the way the theater works. Analyzing the data from the research done during the preparation of this paper, it can be noticed that it is necessary to harmonize the rights of employees on the basis of short-term contracts with the rights of employees based on permanent employment contracts, to make organizational and system changes, as well as legal harmonization. At the same time, it is necessary to analyze whether changing the way the theater is financed and their eventual transition to a market model of work would affect the choice of theaters' employment. Consideration should also be given to replacing an outdated organization system currently in place in most Serbian theaters in order to optimize the performance of the theater.en
