"Tabula Rasa" is a doctoral theme project in art, which falls within the scope of Multimedia Art, Interdisciplinary doctoral studies at the University of Arts in Belgrade. As per its project theme, the artistic frame of this project strives to consolidate the research of human perception, its reflection and identity determinants, interpolated between various forms of expression – i.e., body, portrait, and movement. Starting points of this research project and theoretical considerations consisted of the understanding of the relationships between perception and reflection, are approaching and fading away of these phenomena, their integration or disintegration, affirmation or denial. In addition, referrals to the complexity of their nature were found in the employment of different tendencies to highlight the formal or semantic aspects of the project, deeper research into these phenomena throughout different structural relationships between elements within the media, which were constituted... by transformation and deformation.
The main theme of the project, "Tabula Rasa" introduces art theory through an examination and exploration of peoples' perceptions in relation to the influence of mediated reality, where the impact of a photographic image and its influence on a recipient, who receives particular mediated realities were emphasized. The hypothesis of the project was the transfer of invisible codes to an eye that could be formed within both invisible and visible domains as a possibility and method of viewing, which relies on the experience of conceiving the real world in which what is transmitted into the imagination can create relationships between the real and the possible through visual media, and particularly photography. The project stemmed from the idea that images and the way in which they reflect could imitate the subconscious of the mind, and could thus more easily penetrate into the recipient's consciousness. The relationship between traditional and contemporary photographic images, comprehensions, and different interpretations, methods of presentations, visions, views and recipient's relationships towards an object of his/her observation supported further development of the idea into the project's concept.
