The aim of this paper is research and theorization of (Serbian) film in the age of new media, that is to create a new theoretical discourse, as respons to radical social and media changes in the twenty-first century both in Serbia and globall. These changes are caused by the global process of digitization and the popularization of the practice of producing and consuming new media contents, but also with a specific local context that can be described most general with the concept of transition. In order to fulfill the set goal and achieve a comprehensive hypothesis testing, the analysis direction will alternate from global and general to local and individual phenomena level, and in the opposite direction as well. The process of digitization has led to a change in the material basis (filming, production, displaying and archiving) of the film, which has numerous implications in determining and understanding the nature of its being. Because of this, there is a need for defining the concept of a digital moving image and ontological differences in relation to the concept of an analogue moving image. The digitization process has also enabled the democratization of film and media industry and art. Due to the similar nature of the beings, but also because of the great power of media and social influence (both potential and manifested), as for the subject matter of this paper the most relevant new media practice will be analyzed online video clips (and related clip culture). The process of digitization also involves the development of a post-screen media image that draws attention to the constructional nature of the concept of the image and the necessity of perceiving the role of subjective (cognitive, emotional and conative) processes in its creation and ontological shaping. These phenomena brought into question numerous theoretical assumptions and relativized numerous theoretical terms and concepts. The new theoretical discourse must take into account the current and future change in the nature of knowledge and existence, which can now be seen in the process of transforming media and society towards virtual (and simulated) reality. In addition to the global processes on the Serbian film, as a somewhat specific local cultural, artistic, industrial and ideological product, the specific local social and economic moment and changes are also influential. As the current situation and trends in Serbian society can not be understood, explained and foreseen by taking into account exclusively global influences but it is necessary to put them in a specific Serbian socio-historical context, in the analysis of the effects of global phenomena and processes (digitization, democratization of technology, new media) on the Serbian film the local specifics should also be taken into account. The subject of the analysis will be limited to the time period from 2010 to 2016, because the transition of the Serbian film from analog recording and displaying to digital is finalized thereafter, then because it is the period in which market model is the dominant in Serbia and its effects can be clearly analyze and also because it opens a space for linking to already made detailed analyzes of the previous transition period. The work will identify ontological and genre restructuring of (Serbian) film in the mentioned period under the influence of technological development, as well as the expansion of new media. The adaptation of theoretical terminology, the definitions and descriptions of new concepts that have emerged as a result of the development of technology and the emergence of new media, and the connection of these concepts with existing concepts and theories will also be the result of analyzes in order to fulfill the research task. In order to carry out this analysis in an objective manner, the results of interviewing of film authors, expert evaluation of the budget of Serbian films and archival research of the quantitative indicators of the Serbian film will be used. The collected data will be analyzed from the aspect of the changes that digitalization brings in film production and their implications on the nature of the beings of the film (its understanding and determinations) as well as the industrial and economic factors of the genre determination of films. On the findings of quantitative analyzes, qualitative analyzes will continue (with the application of case study methods, comparative, naratological and textual analysis as well as media archeology) with the aim of identifying ontological and genre restructuring of the Serbian film under the influence of new media made on a sample of seven for the problem of studying the most relevant films from observed period. In addition to relevance assessment, specific films have been selected as an object of analysis due to the similarities they place under the same genre category. The number of films was merely indirectly the criterion for constructing the sample, as a means of ensuring effectiveness from one and relevance of the analysis on the other hand. The results of all analyzes will be embedded in a broader cinematic but also a social context both locally and globally. Perceived ontological and genre transformations and the impact of the digitalization process and expansion of new media on them will enable understanding and description of the transformation of the media, Serbian society and the wider global community, which has already happened to some extent, but also which is yet to come. From these positions, the radical change to today's known nature of knowledge and existence looks like more than a theoretical possibility.en
