Savremene politike vizuelnog oblikovanja: oslobađanje dispozitiva moći

Abstract

Ova disertacija predstavlja teorijsko interdisciplinarno istraživanje dizajna, odnosno vizuelnog oblikovanja materijalnog okruženja u kontekstu savremenih biopolitičkh teorija. Cilj ove disertacije je istraživanje dometa savremenih politika dizajniranja materijalnog okruženja i upravljanja društvenim životom. Postoji uverenje da se dizajn bavi estetikom okruženja, pojedinca i stanovništva uopšte. Međutim, ako se dizajn izmesti u polje biopolitičke teorije nameće se njegova drugačija funkcija u širem društveno-političkom kontekstu. Zapaženo je da se i politika i dizajn odlikuju uvećanom željom za kontrolom razvoja društvenog života i urbanog prostora, usluga, teritorijalnih granica, izgradnje i uređenja životnog i radnog prostora, a sve to u duhu neoliberalnog predatorstva. Preko pomenutih teorija i studija slučaja u ovoj disertaciji ispitane su teze: da je dizajn dispozitiv biopolitički mehanizam vladanja nad telima, te da predstavlja osnovni deo, odnosno produženu ruku biopolitičke mašinerije; da je otpor dizajn dispozitivu moguć gestom profanacije u vidu emancipatorskih sredstava, a u kontekstu savremene dizajnerske prakse; i da je moguće zasnivanje dizajnerske prakse i kontra-dispozitiva, zarad vraćanja svakodnevnim korisnicima onoga što im je oduzeto neoliberalnim režimima vlasti. U ovoj disertaciji dizajn je interpretiran biopolitičkim teorijama i njihovom filozofskom aparaturom, kako bi se bolje razumela savremena politika dizajna u širem smislu, obuhvatajući sve njene discipline (urbanizam, arhitekturu, dizajn enterijera, dizajn proizvoda, grafički dizajn i tako dalje). Teorijsko-analitički pristup savremenom društvu predstavlja jednu od ključnih tačaka ovog rada, imajući u vidu sva iskušenja sa kojim se svet danas suočava: nestabilnost, tranzicija, globalizam, imperija, krah neokapitalizma, dužnička kriza, migracije, nasilje i terorizam. Ova disertacija je pokušaj da se objasni odnos dizajna i biopolitike kojim se uspostavlja i održava stanje u kome se svet danas nalazi. Radom Savremene politike vizuelnog oblikovanja: oslobađanje dispozitiv moći pokazuje se da dizajn nije odraz društva u kome nastaje već upravo suprotno – društvo predstavlja dizajnerski okvir preko koga se ono konstituiše. Dizajnerska praksa je imanentna pojedincu i društvenosti uopšte. Drugim rečima, dizajn u kontekstu politike ne pravi samo vezu sa društvenom i ekonomskom proizvodnjom, već i sa društvom i pojedincom a prema potrebama struktura moći, kontrole i upravljanja.

This dissertation represents a theoretical interdisciplinary research of a design of the material environment in the context of contemporary biopolitics. The aim of the dissertation is exploration of the reach of the contemporary design policies in regard to the designing of the material environment and controlling social life. There is a belief that design deals with the aesthetics of the environment, of the individual and of the population in general. However, if it is placed in the field of biopolitics, different functions of design are imposed in a broader socio-political context. It has been noted that both politics and design are characterized by increased desire to control the development of social life, urban space, services, territorial boundaries, construction, and arrangement of living and working space, all in the spirit of neoliberal predation. In this dissertation, by applying the mentioned theoretical framework and case studies, the following theses have been examined: that the design dispositive is a biopolitical mechanism which governs bodies and is the essential part, the extended hand of the biopolitical power; that resistance to the design dispositive is possible by engaging profanation as emancipatory asset, in the context of contemporary design practice; and that it is possible to establish design practices and a counter-dispositive, for the sake of giving back to everyday users that which has been taken away from them by neoliberal regimes of governance. In this dissertation, design has been interpreted by biopolitics and its philosophical apparatus, in order to understand better the contemporary design policy in a broader sense, encompassing all of its disciplines (urbanism, architecture, interior design, product design, graphic design, etc). The theoretical and analytical approach to society is one of the key points of this work, taking into account all tribulations of the world of today: instability, transition, globalization, Imperia, the collapse of neo-capitalism, debt crisis, migration, violence and terrorism. This dissertation represents an attempt to explain the relationship of design and biopolitics by which the state of the world today is established and maintained. Contemporary Design Policies: The Release of the Power Dispositive shows that design is not a reflection of the society in which it is formed, but to the contrary – the society presents a design framework by which it is created. In other words, design in the political context does not only make the connection with social and economic production, it also formes society and individual, according to the needs of power, control and management structures.
